No coupons?? and 4/20-4/26 CVS plan

NEWBIE ALERT!!! :)

I was a little disappointed this afternoon when I flipped through the newspaper for the coupon inserts. ONE!?!? Where is the Red Plum? Where is the P&G? I only got the SmartSource one. I even got the more expensive paper because last week I got the cheap paper and only found one insert, so I guessed that the more expensive (wider spread) paper must just carry more. Did anyone else find that there were more than just the Smart Source in their papers? (I was mostly disappointed because we only get the paper for the coupons... Sigh. I might call the paper tomorrow and find out if that's all there was or if mine was missing some.

It is POURING in my town right now, and my husband is resting after a long morning at church, so I'm sitting at my computer, pouring over the ads and the blogs to see what kind of deals I can come up with. Here's my plan for this week. Nothing overly spectacular really. Just hoping to increase the ECBs a bit for more flexibility for next week (when I have already heard of some great sales!)

Mennon Speed Stick 24/7 Deoderant for DH - $3.99 with $1 coupon printable (can't find the link -- maybe it's gone), get $3 ECB back

EOB gift bags $1.49 each, buy 3 get $5 ECB, slight overage

Alavert allergy meds $6.99 with $4.00 printable coupon. Hidden deal - get $4 ECB - if it works, it's a deal :) I'll go with a few coupons but just try one first.

That's about it for me for this week. That should leave me with some ECB to play with next week. I haven't worked out my transactions for this yet. I will edit when I come up with the best deal.

EDIT: Here's the plan, assuming I can get the three coupons printed -- I don't have a printer at home :(

Transaction 1:
Buy 1 Alavert @ $6.99
Use 1 $4.00 Q
Use $3.00 ECB I have already
=FREE plus $4.00 ECB

Transaction 2:
Buy 1 Alavert @ $6.99
1 EOB gift bag (finally FOUND them while waiting in a long line. They are the perfect fillers for this week. $1.49
Use $4.00 Q
Use $4.00 ECB from above
= .46 + tax, get $4.00 ECB

Transaction 3:
Duplicate of above

Transaction 4:
Buy 1 Mennon 24/7 Speed Stick for Men @ $3.99
1 EOB bag @ $1.49
Use $1 24/7 Q
Use $4.00 from above
= .46 + tax, get $5 and $3.99 ECBs

Total OOP = $1.32 + tax with $8.99 ECBs in my pocket (an increase of $5.99)

Slip over to "The New Frugal Mom" to see more deals that people have come up with !!!

Thanks for playing along!

Good luck on your new home and be patient with CVS; some weeks are killer and others are fairly empty, deal-wise.

Make sure you know when your ECBs expire so you won't forget to roll them!

Smiles!

I agree. The coupons were pretty slim this week. Like you, I only buy the Sunday paper for coupons. After reading the coupon schedule over at BeCentsable, I think the best time to get coupons (or extra copies) is the first weekend of the month. This link helped me, so I thought I would pass it along. http://becentsable.blogspot.com/search?q=coupon+schedule

I agree the coupons were very disappointing this week. We actually subscribe to the paper here. It's $6.50 for the whole month and I easily save that much with the coupons on groceries (some months much more). Plus, we enjoy getting the paper. (We've also upgraded for free a few times with offers for 8 weeks of the daily paper, etc., and then just ask them to change it back to weekends when they try to charge us.)

I should clarify. The $6.50 is for weekends only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), but that includes the coupons which is all that matters.
